Marion Lee co-founded Bacon Lee & Associates in 2000 and has led Lee+ Associates since 2015. She has nearly 30 years of experience in capital and major gift campaigns, recruitment and nonprofit management, strategic planning, development assessments, board and staff education and philanthropic fund management. Building strong development processes and preparing organizations for sustainable growth is Marion’s passion and fuels her goal to provide the highest quality consulting services for nonprofits’ current needs.
Marion began her nonprofit career at the Witte Museum, facilitating fundraising endeavors. She later joined the University of Texas Institute of Texan Cultures where she developed the fundraising skills that are the core of her nonprofit career. As Capital Campaign Director and Assistant Executive Director for the San Antonio Public Library Foundation, she helped raise more than $32 million to provide technology and other enhancements for the new Central Library and System and in support of the new Central Library.
As the CEO of the San Antonio Area Foundation, she led the Board in its first strategic plan, reorganized the grant and scholarships programs, assisted the Board in developing policies and procedures for donor relations and investment management and increased the Foundation’s assets to more than $102 million.
Marion serves on the Board of YWCA of San Antonio. Her previous board service includes: Any Baby Can, Humane Society of San Antonio, Healthy Futures, Classic Theatre, and San Antonio 100. Marion was recognized as Fundraising Professional of the Year by San Antonio’s Association of Fundraising Professionals and is a member of the Leadership Texas class of 2007. Marion is a popular speaker, providing expert guidance to fundraisers and volunteers across the state.
Marion and her husband enjoy weekends in the Texas Hill Country with their families and planning their next travel adventure.
