Priscilla Cortez joined Lee+ Associates in 2012. She offers extensive experience in nonprofit program design and implementation, governance and management, and fundraising. Priscilla also leads seminars on fundraising best practices, legal compliance, and multicultural philanthropy.
Priscilla developed her expertise in program design and management as an education program director with the Austin Area Urban League and American YouthWorks. Later, she worked as Legal Counsel and Director of Development at Southwest Key Programs, a national nonprofit headquartered in Austin, where she supported the Executive Director and Board of Directors and secured corporate and major gifts in support of a $7 million capital campaign.
Priscilla then joined The University of Texas at Austin as Associate Director of Development where she managed a portfolio of planned giving and major gift prospects and donors resulting in over $3 million in gifts as part of the University’s $3 billion capital campaign.
Priscilla has served as the District IV Director of Opportunity and Inclusion for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Locally, she has been an active member of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and the Estate Planning Council of Central Texas. Priscilla was honored with Leadership Austin’s Ascendant Award.
Priscilla serves on the boards of KLRU-TV (Austin’s PBS station) and Ballet Austin. She is also a founding member of FuturoFund Austin, a ground-breaking Hispanic-focused giving circle.
Priscilla earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, a master’s degree in education administration from The University of Texas at Austin, and a law degree from St. Mary’s University. As an attorney, she has education and experience in the fields of gift and estate planning and overall nonprofit management.
Priscilla and her husband John-Michael enjoy traveling, giving back to the community and spending time with their daughter.
